In this objective, children will learn how to add suffix -ist to bases and stems. Over four  20-minute lessons, they will:
·      Understand how adding the suffix -ist changes the meaning of a base or stem
·      Build on a range of bases and stems
·      Decode the meaning of complex words and use them in context
·      Practise breaking down complex words into their morphemes
·      Explore a range of bases using matrices and word webs, including base 'style', base 'dent', base 'cycle' and base 'ge'
·       Apply three suffixing rules:

Double the final consonant letter when a base or stem ends in a CVC pattern and the stress is on the last syllable, then add the vowel suffix.
Drop the final silent e vowel letter, then add the vowel suffix.
Just add the suffix -y.
