In this objective, children will learn how to add the suffix -ly to bases and stems.  Over three 20-30 minute lessons, they will:

Learn that the suffix -ly can carry the meaning "how"
Learn that when added to a sentence, many words with suffix -ly can act as an adverb
Learn that the suffix -ly can be added to some adjectives to form adverbs
Review suffixing rules, understanding that suffix -ly is a consonant suffix
Learn the new terminology 'stem' (a word part that includes at least a base and another morpheme)
Solve words sums by adding suffix -ly to bases and stems ending in the suffix -y
Sort words depending on the suffixing rule needed for adding suffix -ly
Reinforce learning with practical games
